Measure 26-218, Get Moving 2020

PAALF Action Fund’s Position on Measure 26-218, Get Moving 2020

According to the Oregon Department of Energy 2018 Biennial Energy Report, the transportation sector accounts for 39% of our state’s greenhouse gas emissions. This sector is the single largest contributor to our total emissions.

For us, safety is not more cops on transit, but rather better and more frequent bus service, more light beacons and street markings, and sidewalks that allow people to safely walk and roll across the city. We can’t wait for safer streets.

Measure 26-218 will:

  • Meet our climate action goals. Our region must invest in transportation infrastructure, and the people who ride public transit. Measure 26-218 will make both of these investments.

  • Designate funding for our youth to get to school for free by using YouthPass, helping them access opportunities outside of school without a financial burden to low-income families.

  • Invest in better bus connections that help us move better across our region.

We endorse Measure 26-218 and encourage you all to vote YES!
