Imagine Black Endorses Lamar Wise for appointment to Senate District 15

After a thorough endorsement process, Imagine Black is proud to announce our endorsement of labor organizer Lamar Wise for appointment to Senate District 15. His proven track record, which includes helping secure $1.5 million for the Reimagine Oregon Safety Fund were critical factors in Imagine Black’s decision.

Wise is a proven labor advocate with a passion for housing affordability and access, social justice, and making sure the services that make Washington County run are fully and sustainably funded. Black families in Washington County deserve an advocate who will fight for them, not just in words, but with vision and follow-through, as demonstrated by Wise’s work with the Oregon ACLU, Community Alliance of Tenants, and as co-chair of the Public Safety Subcommittee of the Governor’s Racial Justice Council.  

Endorsements from community organizations like Imagine Black are crucial because, unlike an election, County commissioners and Precinct Committee Persons appoint the person to the vacant seat.

If appointed, Wise would be only the 5th Black lawmaker currently serving in the Oregon Senate.

We desperately need Wise's voice at the state legislature.
