LET'S RAP ABOUT IT! HIP HOP CULTURE AND POPULAR EDUCATION
TWO-PART WORKSHOP
The foundation of Hip Hop is directly linked to the African diaspora. It can be argued that Hip Hop is the most phenomenal artistic and cultural movement to date, and it has reached this status with the support of globalization. There are many places and spaces where one can find Hip Hop: at institutions of higher learning, community centers, marketing companies, sports — this list goes on and on.
Hip Hop is more than a musical genre — it is a worldwide culture that has permeated many societies. Hip Hop has its foundation in resistance and nonconformity, which strikes a connection with many oppressed and marginalized peoples around the globe.
This workshop is grounded in popular- and direct-education to create a democratic learning space. The purpose of this workshop is to help Black Oregonians find independent and collective power through art activism and organizing.

ORGANIZING WITH A BLACK, QUEER FEMINIST LENS
TWO-PART WORKSHOP
How do we incorporate a Black, Queer, Feminist lens into our daily lives, and why is it important? In order to dismantle oppressive systems, we must not only think creatively but also uplift those whose voices and experiences are often silenced. We have the tools within ourselves to make small changes that can lead to positive impacts.
In this interactive workshop, we will start by breaking down gender and then move into discussing ways to implement living with a BQF perspective.
